Reduce, Reuse and (of course) Recycle! Get creative with eco-friendly decorations this Thanksgiving and give thanks back to our planet. Here are a few tips to get you started.
- Set a reverent tone by lighting some eco-friendly candles. Soy, beeswax and palm-oil candles are the way to go since they don’t release petro-carbon soot into the environment.
- Use fruit, gourds, pumpkins, and such to make an edible centerpiece ideal for representing a time of Thanksgiving and bounty. And since you can eat the centerpiece, you obviously create less waste. (Going to the bathroom doesn’t count as an environmentally detrimental waste source, regardless of how it smells.
- Gather leaves, branches or fall-blooming flowers to create a beautiful, biodegradable centerpiece.
- Use clothe napkins, tablecloths, etc. Wash the items and save them for next year.
